So, for my first post of me with my Grow Your Awareness Hunt gifts, it was hard for me to choose who I wanted to go first! I did show a few that I wore on the opening day of the hunt in my Flickr feed already. However, here on the main blog, I want to make sure that each and every one of these special designers gets full attention from me! I have to confess, that I spent the opening day of the hunt in tears, the good happy kind. I was just so pleased with absolutely everything, the generosity of old and new friends, and the love and attention they gave to their designs; as well as the positive feedback I was getting from hunters, not to mention the support from FabFree, and Nessmarket. It’s all been far more successful then I had dreamed of when I started this project. I’ve simply been awed and amazed. I’ve spent the better part of 3 days thinking about how I really wanted to present this information, and show my absolute thankfulness to these designers and really share what they have to offer beyond just a hunt gift.
Since it is impossible for me to chose a favorite, I decided I’d pick a theme that would go with my son’s favorite activities, as the desire to make the world more aware of autism, in order to create a kinder world for he and others not considered neurotypical, is why I organized this hunt in the first place. Mr. Little Man loves to be outside more than anything, and he can spend hours watching fish. So I settled on something I would wear to the park with him, and luckily had this adorable pond with animated fish to set up. I’ll be showing off 4 of the gifts from the hunt, along with another FREE hair, a great deal on applier leggings, and a few other touches!
Make New Friends….
Well, I think the fairest way to do this post will be head to toe, so let’s begin with the hat! [iK01] Industrial Kitty is the creator of this hat. I was really impressed by his artistic design; it’s colorful and unique, with realistic stitching and details in the brim, sizing band, and even the button detail on the top. There are 2 snapback caps in the gift package, a black one and this white that I am wearing. ⓈԋλƊℒץ McƇυƖƖєη, the owner and designer, features eyes and nail polishes in his shop. There is a group that’s 20 lindens to join that has group gifts, discounts to store purchases, and other member-only sales. There are a few snags to be found for the deal finders in his shop too. There’s a Pride (rainbow) nail polish that’s FREE to anyone, a totally adorable pair of shoes with matching nail-polish as a dollarbie (likely shown off soon), as well as some applier eyes, and a couple of tank tops! Along with the GYA Hunt, he’s also currently participating in the Jester’s Revenge Hunt. But, best of all to me, is that I have met yet another wonderful person in Second Life that I can call a friend.
It worked out fairly amazingly well that this group gift hair from Pr!tty, just happened to fit perfectly under this hat! No adjusting of either was needed other than slight positioning. This Aliya Hair comes both rigged and unrigged, with a windy and a normal version (I’m wearing normal), as well as 4 different headdress jewels, which I’m not modeling, and all of Pr!tty’s color HUDS. I’m not sure how long it will last, but as of writing this post, the Pr!tty group is still temporarily FREE to join!
But Keep the Old….
Glint first appeared in my second outfit post and has been a regular feature on my blog ever since. You can check the Glint tag to see what I’ve blogged from the store. I first found Glint through The Free Dove, as she is a really generous supporter of The Dove. Besides a few gifts in the Free Dove store, Glint regularly participates in the mini-hunts with up to 10 free gifts each time, most recently in February. Honestly, if you like the hunts, Glint is a great place to be, as she participates in several, even has won some awards for it! Membership to the Glint in-world group is FREE, with regular gifts for members, sometimes even these fabulous 75% off coupons. I probably get the most use out of the credit back for purchases, I tend to save up a bit, then blow the lot on one of the great weekly sales she has. There’s also a very relaxing spot for 7 Seas Fishing to reel in some jewelry. Glint is also quite a good place to go for custom jewelry and has examples and order forms set up in her store.
Oh, but the necklace! She created a casual, every day, unisex necklace for us! There’s a silver puzzle piece inlay on the pendant, accented with red and silver beading on a leather cord. With the length hitting the top of the breastbone it’s great to match with most shirts, and fell perfectly with the higher side of this of this off the shoulder sweater.
Now that I’ve mentioned this sweater there’s no going back! MOoH! has gifted this “Missy Sweater” as the prize for the GYA Hunt. Oh yes, I’m grinning hugely every time I see this name! But my squishy happy feelings aside, there’s a HUD included for 3 different color versions of this “Accept, Understand, Love” design, and the blue has a choice of a red, yellow, and blue puzzle piece design that goes over the shoulder of the left side of the sweater. I love love love how the texture is tried and tested and doesn’t distort the wording even with my boobs! Dalriada did such an awesome job that I teased her that she designed it with my boobs exactly in mind, which she denied, she’s just cool like that. There’s a generous amount of sizes in the prize too:
- Standard Sizing (with Optional Alpha) XS-L
- Slink – Physique & Hourglass
- Belleza – Freya, Isis, Venus
- Tonic – Fine & Curvy
- Ebony Classic
Oddly, I don’t remember how I first stumbled into the MOoH! store. If I had to guess it would be through one of the news and gift groups she participates in, which are FabFree, Third Life, and Teleport Hub. I wish I could remember, but MOoH has just wiggled itself into my Second Life routine that it feels like I’ve always been there, in the best sort of way that is. MOoH has an amazing, kind, and fun designer at the head, she’ll hop in chat and joke with us, remind us not to miss out and her gifts and steals all over the grid, in contrast to just sending out reminders of new releases. She’s quite active in hunts and events, there’s always something interesting going on. And then, there’s the group itself, which I’ve talked about just about every month since I started blogging back in September. The MOoH group is 100 lindens to join, and included in that membership is a monthly group gift, 150 linden gift card every month, a raffle for a chance to win a 500 linden gift card each month, and weekly member only sales! All in all, a store worthy of my coveted group spots and one I won’t leave until either the store or myself are gone from Second Life!
One is Silver and the Other’s Gold….
Or Silver, gold and every other color in the spectrum? Since I didn’t get a good shot of the nails I wore the other day in Mani-Pedi’s “Dreamscapez” palette that’s available at Dazzle, I made an attempt to get one today! I wouldn’t call it a good one, for some reason pics of nails are not a strong point in my mediocre photography skills, but at least you can see them! Naturally, I opted for the rainbow spectrum to coordinate with this full-fledged autism awareness look, but there are 6 choices available on this palette for 70 lindens. Plus, I got a chance to have a chat with the designer, whom I find simply awesome! Upbeat, fun and kind, someone I want to support on here for sures!
Aside from all the other wonderful deals at Sn@tch, like a new fishing outfit, and updated lucky boards again this week, there’s a wall inside the entrance to the left side that features a ton of free and cheap snags for anyone. These November leggings, if you didn’t get them in a past fishing bag, are available here for just 30 lindens. However, even if you did get the ones from The Baby It’s Cold Fish -4-This, there are 2 more colors available in this sale pack, making it a full 10.
Missy Math is required to justify my shoe purchase! This rainbow checkered pattern is one of 10 included in the Patterns FatPack for Pink Cream Pie‘s latest release of the “Becky Shoes”. This fatpack runs 750 lindens so I’m already mathing it down to 75 lindens a pair. But, if I count in this month’s monthly VIP credit, that takes another 100 lindens off the top, now we’re down to 65 lindens a pair; then there was the fact that for National Pi Day, Vaygah gave us all an additional 314 lindens credit, and further, if I toss in all the 10%’s I got back each time I bought something recently… well long story short, I only needed to add about 300 lindens to my credit, so then we’ll just go back and divide that 300 lindens by 10, and I come up with 30 lindens for this pair! Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy. Oh, if you’re curious, the Pink Cream Pie Vip Group is 250 lindens to join. Benefits include a monthly group gift, several past group gifts, group lucky boards, 100 lindens credit each month, plus 10% back on purchases into that credit pool. Back to the shoes though, there are 10 textures available, I really like the ice cream ones too! I won’t discuss them all, but here’s a screen cap of the two HUDs pages so you can see what’s all included in this pattern pack.
If you look back in the far left corner of the pic above, you can see the hunt gift from the Odditorium, it’s the flowering bush in the pot, which has a texture change script for 5 rose colors or leaves only, this is copy so you can set out as many as you like. The Odditorium has plants, trees, a few furnishings, and buildings, all scattered about organically through the sim. The prices are very reasonable! I picked up both of the flowering trees shown in these pics, the thick and thin, in 4 colors of each in the box, for only 45 lindens. I am just all about flowers lately in Second Life, so both this hunt gift and the amazing prices at the Odditorium have made me very happy indeed. I can also promise you that Bomph is a gentle and kind spirit, and one of the first ladies that I’ve become rather close with in Second Life.
The Ruins Fish Pond was a past hunt prize from Simply Shelby, and I did check the marketplace to see if it were still available, and I didn’t see this one. If you like, there are a few other versions of their fish ponds, which come with these adorably animated goldfish starting as low as 125 lindens. I’ve actually started becoming a bit of a fan of Simply Shelby, and recently bought something amazing that I will be using very soon, stay tuned! I also snagged my long grass from Lunaria at her booth at that same event for only 25 Lindens, but it is available the Lunaria store for the same price.
Why do I feel so out of breath just typing this post up? Mega info dump! But I hope my introductions and descriptions of those generous designers on the GYA Hunt increased your knowledge of them. It’s extremely important for me, and I’m sure I’m not alone, to support folks in Second Life who are cheerful, generous, and creative. With the exception of Shelby, (not saying she’s mean but, I’ve not had the opportunity to meet her), I’m happy to say that each and every designer listed in this post is kind, generous, and unique, and most are good friends on top of that. Remember when snagging hunt items, that the goal is to pay love forward, make the next person with autism that you encounter feel safe, included, and accepted!
