Vegas Wedding

Hello Xms 1M_004.png
Pose by #Helloposes “Christmas 1m)

So, isn’t this gown just divine? It’s available by Papermoon Creations at this round of the Dazzle Event.  I’m simply charmed by it, but… I’m not a girl wanting to get married again, and if that special someone does come along, it’ll be at the courthouse.   So, instead of a fantasy story, I thought I’d give a story about my real wedding, in Las Vegas, NV.  My gamble in Vegas may not have paid out in the very end, but I still loved my wedding!  It wasn’t a drunken spur of the moment affair, we had actually planned it there and took 50 of our close friends and family with us.

One of my favorite memories, and indeed my favorite pictures from the wedding are of me walking across the casino floor in my gown to get the chapel.  They are interesting and amusing for a few reasons, people stopping their glassy-eyed stares at the mesmerizing spins of the slot machines to watch my journey, slight smiles on their faces.  Strangers calling out congratulations and well-wishes, including more than a few salty comments.  In the pictures the contrast of the gaudy and bright casino against the elegant white of my gown.  Maybe most memorable of all, was me being proud of the attention rather than the usual embarrassment of a whole bunch of strangers staring at me.

Yellow Petunias: Sweet Revolutions March Vintage Gacha Gift
Pink Tulips:  “.Lunaria. Pink Tulips” -Group gift/group FREE to join!
Purple Grasses: Lunaria “.Lunaria. Wispy Grass – Spirit”-25L

If a picture is worth 1000 words then a 7-second gift should be worth at least 7000.  Everything pictured, with the exception of my ground flowers, makeup, and my jewelry is all included in the package, which sells for 750 lindens.  This includes the base dress, which can easily be worn on its own after the big event.  There’s 2 layers of additional skirt, a beaded and a glitter, both of which have 3 separate layers each; there’s also 2 layers of the veil, glitter and tulle, of which there are front and back pieces; along with the flower crown and flower for the veil attachment, and the bouquet.  Wear it all or mix and match your way into your dream gown.  Still pics just didn’t do justice to how simply gorgeous this dress is, so I hope you enjoy the gif above showing it off a bit. I did decide to show this off in a lovely setting after my casino jaunt.  For some reason, I thought the placement and slight blur of the flowers made me think of Monet, whose paintings I happened to see while on a separate trip to Vegas at the Bellagio.

Hello Xms 1M_010.png
Pose by HERA “Engagement”  group gift-group 49L to join!

My jewelry just happens to be April’s birthstone, the diamond.  This month’s release of the complete set of birthstone jewelry that Beloved Jewelry is featuring each month.  For this month, the price for group members is just 50L, and non-group members 99L, and the Beloved Jewelry group is FREE to join!  These sets contain 2 bracelets, bento ring (which comes set for right ring attachment but is easily moved to the left with changing attachment point to left right finger and then editing it into the right position), 2 pairs of earrings, hoops and studs, which are perfect for shifting a little for a double pierced look, as well as a choker, and a separate pendant necklace.  The sweeten the pot, there’s also a texture change script for 12 metals options.  I chose to model it in platinum.  All the past month’s birthstones are still available if you missed out, but not at the discounted price.  If you want this complete set of diamond jewelry for only 50L, head down to Beloved Jewelry, join the group (which includes regular gifts via notices) before the end of the month.  Even if you did miss the past deals for your birthstone they are still quite low priced at 125 lindens for group members, and 245 for everyone else.

You may also notice this nail polish which is rather well coordinated with my lipstick.  No, they aren’t actually from the same store, but one is FREE and the only is only 99L in a fatpack of 6 shades. Take a gamble and guess which is which?  If you thought the nail polish was free, you win!  This is a new gift set out at the Free Dove from Main-Pedi.  There is a HUD of 6 shades in the 21st Century  Fun fact about this set, it’s the very first set of polish that Mani-Pedi released!  You can get in a little piece of SL history if you snag this set.  You’ll need the Free Dove group to scoop this up, but the group is FREE to join.  Pro-tip, if you like these shades, subscribe to the Mani-Pedi feed and bi-monthly gifts of new polishes.  If you guessed the lipstick, you still win as 99L for 6 nude lips is a fantastic deal from The Little Black Dress.  In the box are standard tattoo layer, Omega, Catwa, LeLutka, and Areruka appliers.

Oh I just thought this little gif of part of the crew at the Ace Cafe for a DJ’d R&B night just looked too much like an after party for a Vegas Wedding, the non-hotel version that is.  And, of course, more of this fabulous skirt and veil.  Sun-Friday at 2 SLT with either DJ Zef or Dj Elvis.  Great company, great music!

The rest of the wedding was interesting.  No, we didn’t get married by Elvis, we got married in a lovely chapel by a man in a purple velvet robe though!  Elvis was included in the reception, however, with my ex-husband giving a lip-syncing to totally horrid and hilarious Elvis impersonation. Nearly everyone in attendance ended up drawn in by the casino after the reception, and we made a big party around the nickel slots, a good choice since nearly everyone was drunk.  That’s about all that’s really fit to share here on the blog, so I’ll leave you with the usual disclaimer, anything not mentioned in the writing has been blogged before, so consult the style card at the end!

Missy the Human

On the far away island of Kurkenbrai

Missy the Human was Queen of the Fae

And the beasts, and the people, the plants and the trees

The land was affluent and all lived with ease

Her subjects had everything that they might need

And all were quite happy, quite happy indeed.

Forgive my poor at attempt at Dr. Suess fanfiction, all in good fun! Now, as most every other Dr. Suess story, there is a bit of a cautionary tale, moral, hidden critique of humans woven through Yertle the Turtle. Now, Yertle is a bad turtle king.  Naturally, Missy the Human would be the queen of all queens; and if I were the queen of all I see, I would be in a very high tower of stone, not on the back of my subjects, turtle or otherwise.  Therefore, my fantasy can end without a cautionary tale, as Missy the Queen is practically perfect in every way.  Missy the human also brings you knowledge of several fantastical deals, some quite inexpensive, some not under 100 lindens, but between Missy Math™ and Missy desire, I have quite a bit to show off today, most, however, will be in annotated style card format.

Purple is the color of royalty, so when I saw this dress from Moonstar by the Sea as an exclusive at Dazzle, I was taken on this flight of fancy. Most that you see featured from neck to toe is included in the outfit; the necklace, the dress, and the strappy shoes.  The dress is really something special, the texture of the main body is a gorgeous purple with golden flowers, and the edging is done in a subtly animated sparkle. Even with 3 pieces in this set, the price is only 150 lindens, and you know what that means in terms of Missy math since I love to be about that mix & match potential. The Arya Gown comes fitted for Maitreya, both Slinks, all 3 Bellezas with coordinating shoes for each.  Since the shoes are hard to see peeping out from under the floor length skirt, and still photos just do not do justice to the sparkle, I captured a little gif on the graphics settings that I think most likely use for standard play.  There’s also an absolutely fabulous rich jewel emerald green in crushed velvet version of this dress available.

Also, a little peek of Harshland’s flowers, to be credited.

Snapshot_1607.pngI’m falling further and further behind on my blogs this month, so I request your forgiveness that the rest of the post will be in an annotated style card version, with pics of course!

Hair:  Alli & Ali “Serene Hair, Ash” -Blondes pack 250L *I, however, got this as a special dollarbie Promo, which is now no longer listed as such, but was so perfect for my vision that I had to use it.  But here you find my cautionary tale, it’s smart to check the Alli & Ali marketplace store often to watch for these low priced promos! Alli & Ali also has an exclusive this round of Dazzle, so don’t miss that either.

Earrings:  Spyralle-Park Place Store “Talisman of Hope Earrings-Amethyst” -150L

p.s.  There’s also a stunning matching necklace for 200L, and 6 total gem colors in all.

p.p.s. Both were on sale last weekend for just 50L, reason enough to either subscribe to the Spyralle store and get all these sale notices, which includes occasional subscriber gifts, or to join the group for 250L and get all the gifts and perks!

Skin: Avi-Glam  “AG. Anna Skin (T1, black eyebrows, cleavage)” @   The Free Dove – group gift/group FREE to join.

Eyelashes:  ATIA’s  “Plume” in Swag Bag  –FREE!

Eyelashes and Eyeliner tattoo:  Blacklace Beauty “Eyelashes and liner 1” – 99L (fatpack)

One of the perks of keeping my standard head is that I get to layer lipsticks to get custom colors.  This works best when you use the same designer as they tend to have similar shapes, not always though, so try the demos if you want to simulate this technique. I prefer to add the lightest, most sheer one last to create the best blend.  Oh well, you know, I also did the same thing with my eye makeup!

Lipstick 1: The Little Black Dress “*LBD* Damask Large Supreme Lipstick” which comes in a fatpack with 12 shades, 2 sizes of each shade large and regular, in classic avatar tattoo, omega, akeruka, Catwa, Lelutka – 149L

Lipstick 2:  Little Black Dress “*LBD*Glossy Sheer Lipstick – Violet” – 149L (in fatpack with 12 shades for classic avatar tattoo and Slink Applier)

Nails:   Dark Passions “Purple Rain”- group gift/group 100L to join

Ring:  Slipper “Slipper – Bella Ring” *bento for Maitreya or Slink Hands – former Enchantment Hunt prize

Belly Jewel:  Beloved Jewelry-Emerald Bay Store“Beloved Jewelry “Mishka Belly Piercing(Texture Change/Pt Mesh)” -part of a complete set of Necklace, bracelets, earrings, and this belly piercing.  It is an older creation of Miss Kimbra’s and has a texture change set that contains less, but different customizable options than the latest texture change C script does. I’m wearing it here in the etched gold 2 and amethyst options.  It’s still fairly sonic drink math worthy though! I’ve mentioned to Kimbra a time or two that I would love to see these etched metals come back in some newer pieces! 425 lindens for the complete set, or between 100 and 185 lindens for individual pieces, this belly ring being 100 lindens.

I had just way too much fun when I designed this scene. I started with a camping scene that’s one of the scenes in my multi-scene skybox rental. I was able to turn off the picnic blanket and tent, just leaving this island with hills, a waterfall, a running stream, and opening to a lake.  Perfect for what I had in mind. Then I went nuts putting out ground cover, long grass, fluffy grass, 3 types of regular flowers, and 3 colors of animated flowers!  Then the animated trees, 3 different types and designers, with of one having multi-colored options. These I will be posting gifs of! All of it built around this Fairy Tale tower.  I’ll probably be repeating this scene again.  Now for the ground covers, I’m not 100% sure what is all actually visible in the entirety of my pictures, but I’m gonna list all that I used.

Grass: Lunaria “.Lunaria. Tall Grass” -25L

Dandelions:  Lunaria “.Lunaria. Dandelion Field” -25L

Multiple Flowers and Fluffy grass:  Lunaria – group gifts/group FREE to join (I literally use these group gifts all the time. There’s the fluffy grass, and 5 separate flowers, there are also trees, bushes, trellises and archways available.)  Great for builders!

Blue Petunias: Sweet Revolutions March Vintage Gacha Gift

Animated Flowers:  Harshlands “[HL] Flower Field” – I used the cyan, mint, and gold, but there’s also a crimson in the box.  Missy math applies! – 4 for 200L make that 50L each!

Still-life pictures simply could not do the things mentioned in this post justice so I have yet another gif for you.

Ice blue lights tree with rotating bubbles: Sweet Revolutions  “~*SR*~ Winters Hollow ~ Lights of Elune cm” past gift at January’s MidWinter Fair

Glitter Trees:  Bad Katz “Glitter Tree Bent” –200L on the marketplace, set of 4 trees, green, gold, blue and red, and I used blue and gold.

Now that the last tree that I added and wasn’t part of the original skybox scene, I didn’t do justice to. I actually hurriedly grabbed the above picture for a more focused shot on normal graphics so that I could single it out, but it still doesn’t do it enough justice.  But, there’s always the next post, since I will be using this again as it has poses!  There’s a purple crescent swing chair to sit on.  Sitting there didn’t fit my vision today, but it’s too cool not to use for another photo shoot.  You can snatch a copy of this “= MB = MoonTree in purple, animated” at this round of Dazzle for 125 lindens from MB Content Creators, but no fear, it will be hanging around in the main store for 139 lindens after.  If you visit the main store, you can consider joining the in world group for 35 lindens and keep up with the news and updates, as well as land yourself some regular group gifts.

Tower with Animations:  Exposeur “Fairytale Tower” –300L Marketplace only

So, you’re looking at about 3 days worth of work for me on this post!  Not at all sure if you can tell, but I hope you can, an awesome new friend taught me a few new graphics settings that I think have much improved my pictures, and I can’t help showing off just a little over the journey I’ve made from taking pics on midday setting at 512×512 size! Now, I get to show off just a bit more by showing you some more of the included animations with the tower. No following style card this time, so let me just wish you happy shopping!

On Beyond Zebra

There’s no limit to how much you’ll know, depending how far beyond zebra you go.

Dr. Seuss
My son adores Dr. Suess books, I guess he gets that from me, because I still adore them myself, just on a different level.  He’s really really into spelling right now, and I literally spend all day spelling everything to him, but I’m more than happy to do it, he’ll need these skills for more effective communication as his verbal language is pretty severely limited. Although, he did tell me this morning when I went to help him because his shoes were on the wrong feet “I’m independent!” I agree he’s very independent when it comes to making messes. Something about this dress from Gypsy Chic just said fun and whimsy to me, and Seuss is definitely the master in that department.  Just like yesterday, I have a wide variety of ways to find your goodies, with a few 100 lindens or less nabs from Dazzle, a lucky letter, a group gift, and a fishing prize!  And that, dear readers, is why I’m smiling.
You’ll have to forgive the old lady in me, I just wasn’t all that comfortable wearing Gypsy Chic’s “Palomma Zebra Dress” without something to cover my bits and bum.  I do happen to love it as a tunic top!  It’s soft and flowing, bright and cheerful, and the added waist corset adds a touch of earthiness to the colorful Zebra.  The Palomma Zebra Dress is an exclusive at the March round of Dazzle and is low priced at 100 lindens.  This dress comes sized for Maitreya, both Slinks, all 3 Bellezas, as well as a standard fitted with alpha layer.  This round of Dazzle runs through the 25th!
Park Place “[Park Place] Zebra Director’s Seat”
These studded ankle boots are also available from Gyspy Chic in their Dazzle display, and also just 100 lindens.  There are also several other colors available if you’re not keen on the white.  They come rigged for Maitreya, Slink and Belleza feet.  Additionally, it’s a good idea to check out the Gyspy Chic store, for just 5 lindens there are several cute gifts, as well as a gift for The Free Dove group right there in the store, as well as one for FabFree.  I’ve been a member of the Gypsy Chic group for a while now, even before being introduced to these fun designs at Dazzle.
Exposeur’s Pin Up Selfie Series -50L on marketplace sale!
Glint is also participating in Dazzle this month, and have yet another exclusive deal for us! This Onyx Zebra Necklace is unisex with its short length, leather cord, beads, and pendant.  The beads alternate between black and zebra print and a silver inlay of a Zebra head is set in shiny onyx. There is a resizer script on this fun and casual necklace, making it easy for anyone to wear.  It’s also quite low priced at 50 lindens!  I’ve talked about Glint very often in this blog, and while it appears that the lucky letters are no longer up, there is 7seas Fishing, as well as credit back on each purchase for group members, and group gifts.  Glint also participates in several hunts each month and has a very well organized hunt board with previews and hints clearly displayed.  The Glint group is FREE to join!  Obviously, I’ve been a member of the Glint group practically forever, and one great feature, which I’ve taken advantage of is customized jewelry.  Glint is also taking part in the Grow Your Awareness Hunt that I am organizing for next month!
My sleek bob I also fished up this offering of Sn@tch’s Fish-4-This.  I finally completed the set last night, this hair is the last, due to a trade in group chat.  There’s also a blonde and a red version fished separately, and I was able to catch many of those before giving up and whining in group chat about it. There is a rigged and an unrigged version. Anyone can fish at Sn@tch with their 7seas Fishing pole, but Sn@tch chat is where the trading and sharing goodness happens.  The Sn@tch group is 200 lindens to join.
Exposeur’s Pin Up Selfie Series -50L on marketplace sale!
This super fun backdrop by Po^Z is also at Dazzle!  I was drawn to the earthy tones with the pops of color that allowed the zebra print to shine through without being overwhelming.  It’s happily also copy/mod. I discovered Po^Z through The Free Dove and struck up a conversation with the designer after I blogged her and dropped a courtesy note.  I’m happy to say that’s she’s a very friendly person, and one worthy of my financial patronage, little as it may be.  She’s also agreed to participate in the Grow Your Awareness Hunt, much to my delight!  Po^Z  currently has 4 group gifts available at the main store, including bento poses and a backdrop, and the group is FREE to join!
I snagged these tights by Baby Monkey for just 10L in the marketplace.  There 35 colors in the pack, for classic avatar, Slink and Maitreya appliers.  They were key in helping this old woman keep her modesty because frankly, no one wants to a see a 41-year-old mom’s flat white butt (even if Slink Hourglass definitely gave me a butt lift!)
Kokoro Poses – Alice Group gift/group FREE to join
The final two touches I have to share today are my ring and bracelet.  The blue “Ribbon Ring” is one of several group gifts at Earthstones.  I recently, thanks to Kimbra of Beloved, learned a way to make my older rings bento!  It’s actually fairly simple, the next time to wish to wear one, use attach to instead of wear, and choose the ring finger option.  Now it’ll be floating out in midair when you do this, but step on your pose stand, and using the edit function maneuver the ring to the proper place.  The Earthstone‘s group is 250L to join.
Now my bracelet I scored off a lucky chair at Zuri Jewelry  I subscribed to this group and they often have fun events and sales.  You also don’t need to join the group to play the lucky letters at Zuri!  You should pop into Zuri’s for more than the lucky letters though. There’s a two lucky dip type thingies, gifts that are FREE to anyone in the group gift area, including matching earrings for this bracelet, and then there are gifts for the FabFree, Maitreya Gifts and News, Teleport Hub, and Third Life groups, as well as a subscriber gift. I felt this Rayna Cord leather bracelet with the teal accents just went perfectly with this outfit playing on both the leather of Glint’s necklace and the and the spectrum of shading in Gypsy Chic’s zebra.
All my makeup, and of course, my favorite glasses have been previously blogged!  Check the style card for every detail!

Party Doll

50’s Diner located at Urban Corner

Well, I saw a gal walkin’ down the street
The kind of a gal I would love to meet
She had blonde*black hair and eyes of blue
Baby, I’m a-gonna have a party with you

*Missy edit =)

I’m just about 10 days late and more than a dollar short in bringing you this new release from Really Rockabilly! I was super busy earlier getting stuff out from Dazzle, then knocked out with a migraine thanks to the rains. I know, excuses, excuses, the blog hasn’t been updated as often as I’d like this week, and everything else aside that’s all on me!

If you want to get into any 1950s roleplay at all, or even just have a few clothing items for dress up, then the most basic piece should be a black dress with a swing skirt and a halter top.  This dress is all that, plus a bit of 50s Ode to Pink with the skirt panel inserts and bodice. Additionally, there’s a full set of applier lingerie with this outfit, bra, garter, fishnet stockings, and panties.  There’s an inset of the black and pink hearts and swirls patterns in the bra, as well as a back seam and darkened heels on the stockings.

Pic snapped in an Adult Sim, Grandma’s Dirty Kitchen

There are several sizes of the Really Rockabilly Black Valentine’s Swirl Dress:

  • Standard Sizes XS-L
  • Fitmesh Sizes XS-L
  • Slink Hourglass & Physique
  • Maitreya
  • TMP
  • Belleza Venus

The Really Rockabilly Black Valentine Lingerie comes as the following:

  • Standard Avatar Layers
  • Omega Applier
  • Maitreya Applier
  • Slink Foot Applier for stand-alone Slink Feet

This entire mix and match set is only 225 lindens.  There’s a little bonus if you go down to the Really Rockabilly Mainstore to snag this, there’s a dollarbie pink version of the dress in standard sizes, minus the lingerie, as the Valentine’s Day gift! Either are a great option to wear and head down to the Ace Cafe one afternoon to dance away when there’s a DJ. Generally between 2-4pm SL time, but there are sometimes other sets as well!

Speaking of gifts, my pretty pink pendant necklace and earring set is the February group gift from Hedonistic Housewife.  If you’ve never found this fun little shop, it’s chock full of 1950s clothing and accessories.  They currently have the cutest swing skirts with net petticoats for just 50 lindens.  Even better, the Hedonistic Housewife group is FREE to join, and there are 3 jewelry group gifts currently available, along with several roleplay freebies in system and standard sizing mesh.

I snagged these adorable mary jane’s on the marketplace.  They were just 99 lindens, and come with a HUD of colors of solid and fun retro patterns.  They are rigged for Slink Mid Feet.  Sticking with accessories, my hairbow is one with a HUD that came with Sn@tch’s “Jewel Hair” that I picked up on a past in-store hunt.

Mini Tutorial

Ever since I picked up a pose stand that I can load from HelaMiyo, I’ve been far more interested in posing for pics where I can use it, which means rez ability. I love using the pose stand because I can position it rather than try to move myself to the perfect spot, and put poses in fun positions like I did with the Sittin’ Tree from Stone’s Works in my last post.  You can snag the pose stand along with a photo studio for FREE in the VIP room at HelaMiyo, there’s also a public photo studio with a backdrop in the room with 45 loaded poses. So what I did here was to make my little scene, using the photo studio and pose stand.

First, I’ll talk about how to load the pose stand.  Rez it and click open, then go to the contents tab.  Open your inventory and I like to ctrl+click on all the animations that I want to load into the stand, and then just drag them over and drop them into the pose stand.  Now keep in mind, no-copy poses will leave your inventory and only be in the stand, but copy poses will stay in your inventory as well as being in the pose stand.  The pose stand is copy, so you can create a few different ones to make it easier when you scroll through.  For example, I have one for stand poses, one for sit poses, and one for action poses.  However, if you put a pose that’s no-copy, that particular pose stand becomes no copy as well.  Therefore, you’ll want to make your copies of the pose stand before you drag a no-copy animation into the stand.  It’s pretty simple, a little bit of organization can save you quite a bit of time when you’re snapping pics, and allow more control so you can get better-positioned shots.  Be sure to snag all the dollarbie poses you like and The Fab Free and SL Frees and Offers gifts while you are there!

Now my scene.  This is the HelaMiyo photobooth that I set up in.  This is modify, so I edited it and used select face to apply textures.  The back wall is a stucco wall with a window, the window is actually transparent, and you’re seeing through it is what I’ve got outside. Sadly, this texture is unavailable as I got it, as the sim has closed. I applied that to the back wall, then added the sheer curtains, which are also sadly unavailable.  To the left and right walls, as well as the ceiling, although not pictured, I just used plain stucco.  On the floor, I used a 50s pattern that I googled to look like a rug.  Which brings me to a Missy trick, that works for photography only.  Instead of paying 10 lindens for each texture upload, you can add a local texture; this won’t last when you teleport, log out, or try to transfer the item, but it will stay as a preview as long as you are in the same sim, which is perfect for just snapping pics. So, overall I was able to create a little living room scene, with lighting control from the photobooth, which is FREE from HelaMiyo!

Just a couple of furnishing credits, as most of what’s shown is past gifts.  The two green chairs, one with a pillow, and one without are from The Vintage Touch, and are available as lucky letters!  The Vintage Touch group is FREE to join!

The wool and knitting themed framed pictures are from Cwtch. Which, I’m sorry to say has now closed, as of January, which makes me sad.  They were a group gift, and are not even available on the marketplace store, which is where you can find some well-priced items. I’m happy now that I have them! I’ve blogged stuff from Cwtch before, so I thought a little note about the store closing was appropriate.

I’m sorry my usual story and pep wasn’t in this post.  I guess the Winter Blahs are turning into the Spring Rain Migraines combined with Winter Break for the little monster of mine, and no rest for the wicked!  I did dump alot of info on you, with the new (to the blog) 50s store, and my little mini photography tutorial, so I hope at the very least you enjoyed that!  Now, get out there and get gussied up and go boppin’!

Free Dove Challenge #2

I’ve decided to do a little something different than usual in this post.  Since it’s a Free Dove challenge post, everything, of course, is available at the Free Dove.  My outfit, however, is limited time, as it’s a January hunt gift. I’ll still discuss the outfit, and add in my usual discussion, but here’s the twist.  I’m going to be pointing out three special items in this outfit that have the ability to be modified.  I’m hopefully going to lead the readers step by step through the directions on how to make these pieces match this outfit, as well as teach the steps to apply it to all outfits.  I’m going to try to keep my language simple, clear, and not rely on too much Second Life lingo as I remember feeling clueless when people and even guides blasted through the information without explaining these words.  I’m going to save that for last, however, and get into the discussion of the outfit!

The Clothes

Marquess is one of the designers for the Free Dove Mini Hunt this month. If you search around the store for a little gold star you can find several in The Free Dove store and a few more at Marquess’s main store. You’ll need to wear your Free Dove group tag to snag these gifts, but The Free Dove group is FREE to join. Notice how these 3/4 lenght Harem pants are just barely sheer so that when I had a little firelight near one could see a sexy outline of my legs.  The matching wrap top is also in the box!  The “Malma Outfit Red” comes in several sizes:

  • Fitmesh – XS-L
  • Belleza – Freya, Isis, and Venus (plus shoes!)
  • Ebody
  • Maitreya (plus shoes!)
  • Ocasin
  • Slink -Physique and Hourglass (plus shoes!)
  • Tonic – Fine and Curvy
  • TM

The Shoes

Just in case anyone couldn’t fit into the shoes included in the Malma Outfit, I’ve worn another pair that can be found in the shoe section of the store.  There are actually 3 pairs in the box of “!MiH Shoes For the Free Dove” by Mutiny in Heaven, this red pair, a black, and a green.  These include a pair for TMP (which Marquesse doesn’t have, but there is a TMP outfit in the outfit hunt prize), as well as Slink, and Maitreya.  If you turn around from the shoe department and look through the casual dresses, you’ll find a set of dresses that are designed to match up with these shoes!  However, since you can see these !MiH shoes in all of my other pictures, I’ve gone ahead and snapped on the shoes that Maquesse has paired with theMalma Outfit.

The Hair

My hair is from Rezology.  The “Boon” hairstyle is a full and thick French braid ending in a bun.  This hair comes with a color HUD so that you can customize your preferred color.  If you’re not familiar with using a HUD it’s really simple, just add it, instead of wear, and when it loads on your screen simply click for color choice.

The Makeup

There is one thing I love about having a Standard/Classic Second Life head. Unlike applier makeup, where there can only be one choice, with a classic head, you can use up to 5 different makeup tattoo layers to customize your look.  Some really old viewers may not have the feature enabled, but it’s been years since it has been available, so if you’re not seeing it, make sure you’re running an up to date version.  To stack tattoo layers, from your inventory right click them and choose to add because if you choose to wear you will replace what’s there with a new one instead of layering. This little lesson aside, I’m using the following makeup from the “Dulce Secrets 2017 Free Dove Collection”; “::DS:: Cherry Cute Blush”, “::DS:: Noble Hyssop Eyeshadow”, and “::DS:: Brass Kissable Lips Tattoo”, as well as the mesh pair of eyelashes and used the included black HUD for the lashes.  All of this makeup is layered on top of my skin, which is “AG. Anna Skin – T1 – Black Eyebrows – Cleavage.”  Since I have a mesh body and a standard head, I need to use both the system skin, that looks like a little man doing jumping jacks in the inventory and the omega applier version that comes in a HUD.

I also used a nail polish found the Dulce Secrets box.  The nail polishes offered in this gift are only for Slink hands, so if you have standard or another mesh maker they won’t work for you. I opted for the ‘::DS:: All That Glitters Gold Tip Slink Nail HUD” and chose the cranberry color.

The Glasses

I always feel naked, even in Second Life without my eyeglasses.  I’ve worn them since I was 8 years old, and being in my 40s, they are just a part of my face now. That said, I’m fairly sure I’ve checked inside all of the female gifts at The Free Dove, and have not found a pair of plain glasses in any.  I did discover a way that I can modify several pairs of sunglasses of different frame types that are included in a special box of several outfits to create some. There is a gift in Casual Section of the store in a box named “Ydea All Gifts” that has over 30 mostly completely styled outfits, including accessories and shoes for many, even a couple of hairs. Several outfits are for system layers, so this is a nice box to pick up if you don’t yet have a mesh body, and also rather nice if you do, because of the mesh shoes and accessories, as well as a few mesh outfits. Now, inside one of the outfits; and in this case, I’m not sure which one it was, because of months ago, before I thought about blogging, much less being one for the Free Dove, I moved them to another folder so they’d be quick to find and named that folder glasses.  Anyway, once you open the outfits, you’ll see that one outfit has some sunglasses simply named “White Sunglasses”, these are the ones I used.  The following instructions will teach you how to customize different areas of an object, make areas transparent, and recolor them.

  • These particular glasses are no copy, normally the first step in any modifying process is to make a copy of the item you are going to change and keep that in case of error.  So in this case only proceed if you are sure you don’t want them as is.
  • The second always-do step is to get onto a pose stand.  If you don’t have one already, I know for certain that the jewelry set out by Glint has them.
  1. To modify these, I think the best option is to wear them, so click on them inside your inventory, right-click and choose “add”, just in case you have something else worn at the same attachment point. A quick way to find them is to use the search feature and put in White Sunglasses.  Don’t close your inventory yet after adding them. This step should look like the picture below. They should now be on your face and bold within your inventory folder.  Screenshot_9
  2. Secondly, once they are on your face, and now bolded in your inventory, right-click them again and choose to Edit.  This will pull up another window.  On your face, they will now be highlighted yellow, and you’ll look like you have arrows coming out of your head in every direction.
  3. Now that you’re in the edit window, chose the tab that says texture in the middle area of the window, select the radio button for Select Face, and I find it easier to uncheck the box for Highlight so I can see clearly how my changes impact the object. The picture below shows all that I’ve chosen. At this point, if you’d like to keep them as sunglasses and not clear the lenses, skip ahead to step 7.Screenshot_10.png
  4. Here’s where it starts to get a touch tricker.  Zoom in on your face with the camera and click the area of the glasses that are the lenses, they will now be somehow marked, usually a  circle on the face of the lenses, or a highlight along the edges if there’s not a large flat face. The highlight on mine is easy to see because they are already clear, but it’s not as clear when they are still shaded. However, the easiest way to tell you are in the right place, in this instance, is that the Texture box will no longer say “multiple textures,” and you’ll see a blue and white checked image with a couple of small white areas in the Texture box.  I no longer have that texture, so I sadly can’t show you.   Please note that going back to sunglasses at this point is not impossible, but it won’t have the reflective appearance as the original does, and is a bit trickier to pull off well.
  5. Next, click on the picture of the texture.  It will load another window with options.  Make double sure that it doesn’t say Multiple Textures in the window before you do anything, and if it does try again to select just the lenses, otherwise you’re about to make the whole thing invisible and it will be frustrating to fix.  I know because I’ve done it!  I am stubborn and self-taught, so I learned through my many errors!
  6. In the new window, you will see some buttons on the bottom middle-left, choose Transparent, this is available to everyone as a texture already in your inventory library. I’m showing a picture of what it should look like, and included my face so that you may see what the highlight looks like when I’ve selected the right area with Select Face on my already clear lenses.  Repeat this step with the left lens as well. (oh and you don’t have to set the Transparenc % to 12, I think I did that accidentally, just ignore that option and all the others I’ve not mentioned.)Screenshot_13
  7. Now you should have clear lenses.  It’s time to move onto the frame of the glasses. Since the lenses are transparent, you can just select the radio button on the right side to Move so that it selects the entire object.  *Side note, if you want to make the frame different colors, there are 5 areas you can individually select just as we did for the lenses, but leaving the texture in the “blank” option.  You can experiment with the various system textures as well, as long as you’re using select face, so you don’t accidentally apply it over the lenses, as this will make them solid.  But if you do make them solid, don’t fret and just repeat the previous steps. Playing around is fun, you can make custom looks, and it’s easy to always go back to blank if you don’t like a particular texture.
  8. Once you have the entire object selected, notice in the edit menu above the texture there is a white rectangle that says “Color” below it, this will load the Color Picker menu. I made an easy choice and it matched pretty well, I just chose the dark red from the boxes of common colors beneath the RGB window.

In this step, ignore the fact that I have select face checked, it should be something else.

The Earrings

Once again in the Ydena All Gifts box, there is a folder named “Leonora Outfit,” and I added both of the earrings inside.  I then customized them into the shiny gold that is visible in my pictures using the following steps:

  1. This time you can ignore the texture and leave it as is.  I customized a color that was a fairly close match to my necklace and bracelet, using the RGB window.  Consult the picture for the numbers I used and just input that into the appropriate spaces.Screenshot_14.png
  2. Once you’ve done this, you can drag the main color square, which says ^Current Color^ underneath it, down over the bottom rows of quick colors and put it into one of the extra white boxes.
  3. Next, back in the main edit window, you’ll see 3 radio buttons next to the texture box.  Ignore the first 2, and click the 3rd that says Shininess.  This is the specular menu. Click the drop box that appears and choose Medium.Screenshot_15.png
  4. When you edit the second earring you’ll just click to open the color menu, and choose the color you saved in the rows on the RGB window. Then repeat step 3 on to increase the shine.

The Necklace and Bracelet

I’m wearing a set I found in the Jewelry Section,  the “[[ Masoom ]] Alia Necklace Unrigged GOLD.”  The basic thing that you need to know about unrigged items, is that you can resize them and change where they are positioned on your body. If it fits well right out of the box you don’t need to do anything.  I needed to do both, so I’ll give a quick rundown of this process.  There are two methods to resize this set, the first is that you may “touch” this item, and because it has a resize script, a menu will appear for you. You can increase or decrease the size in percentages until you get it right.  I, however, prefer to use the “Stretch” option via the edit menu and using the white boxes that appear around the object, resize it manually. The “Stretch” option is located in the radio button section on the top left side of the menu. If you do this make sure that the “Stretch Both Sides” option is checked on the left side of the menu, as well as you being on a pose stand.  Unchecking the “Show Highlight” box will make this easier to see just exactly how it’s fitting you. While not in this particular object, but if you have stretch boxes that are red, blue, or green, they can make an item thicker or thinner in any direction depending on which arrow you chose.  Just something to note for later, or if you’re trying this process with a different item.

You also may have to move the necklace to a better fitting area of your neck or wrist for your bracelet.  To move the object, you simply check the “Move” radio button, and use your mouse to drag the arrows, selecting either the head or the tail of it, in the direction you want it to move, a different color for each direction, red for the X-axis, green for the Y, and blue for the Z-axis.  You may have to go back and forth between stretching and moving an unrigged item to get a perfect fit.

That’s it, that’s my outfit for my second Free Dove Challenge. I hope I have taught you that even though The Free Dove is just chock full of wonderful gifts, there are some special things that you can do to always have a perfect match, or inspire your creativity to make your own design by adding texture and/or color. You’ll need to be a member of The Free Dove group to snag these gifts, but The Free Dove group is free to join! As is my usual habit, I’ll end with 3 more pictures of me doing various things in the outfit, so that it can ‘come to life’ so to speak, and show you different angles and posing.
