Free Dove Challenge #8

As promised I bring you a hunt preview, well just one item, but reason enough to get down to The Free Dove and poke around looking for hidden treasure.  This month’s hunt participators are Chop Zuey, Loorde’s of London, and EccentriciXi.  I’ve chosen a dress from one of them to show off, but all three did a fantastic job with their hunt gifts this month.  I’ve paired the dress with some stuff that’s not hunt related, including, *le gasp* a different skin than I normally wear!  Of course, my glasses aren’t actually in The Free Dove, but a message or notecard to me will land you free pair sent directly to you. So without further ado, I present you with my Free Dove Challenge look #8.

There’s just something about lace overlay on satin that just catches my fancy.  When I was sitting around surrounded by the bags and boxes of my hunt loot, overwhelmed with my choice, my mind kept sneaking back to this little dress from EccentriciXi.  The store is fairly new to me, so I had to go do my usual on the ground research for reporting back to you. The main store is organized like two towers, each area of the tower is organized and the name is at the bottom, to find the deals, follow the 60L Secret sale arrows towards the back, and then there’s an area of New Releases, Promos, & Deals.  On the second landing of that area, there are 3 boxes of free items for new avatars 30 days or less, at the top are the sales items, including a Blacklace TGIF.  There is also a discount store at The Free Dove Plaza.

I ventured into just one of the skins folders in that huge box of goodies from Dulce Secrets that’s at the Free Dove and is just loaded with everything. I like the “vanilla” base color, so I just filtered for that shade.  I used the Slink Applier to put the vanilla skin on my Slink body, then had several options to choose to show with my standard head. That left me with a ton of options still!  Each skin design had a few makeup colors even.  I eventually settled on “::DS:: Kenzi.Vanilla.Green Field (V)” But there are several options for this skin in not only makeup shades, but also base skin tones.  I’ve left it bare with no other makeup options to show it off.  Omega appliers are also included.  I think I will have to make time soon to make a tag just for items from this huge box of goodies so you can see just the small slice of the goodies inside that I’ve featured!  But for now, you will have to just rely on my general Dulce Secrets tag, to show you the variety of things from this store that have been featured, including group gifts, sales, dollarbies, advents, and stuff I’ve bought just because of love.

The Leslie Hair is Firelight’s latest gift to The Free Dove! It’s only been there a few weeks now.  It comes with the mini-essentials hud of all the basic shades, like my black, as well as firelights color tinter wheel.  There’s rigged and unrigged in the box, along with busty versions (THANK YOU!)  Firelight has been blogged quite a bit by me, and well deserved too, so check the tag to get all the details on this creative and generous designer.

These strappy shoes were the perfect purple to match up with the mini hunt dress. The EC Ribbon of Hope Purple shoes is a standing gift set out at The Free Dove from Emerald Couture. There’s a slink high and an unrigged pair in the box.  I googled the purple awareness ribbon and found this “Purple typically represents pancreatic cancer. It is also a symbol for Alzheimer’s disease, lupus, animal abuse, Crohn’s disease, cystic fibrosis, fibromyalgia, sarcoidosis awareness, thyroid cancer, ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), and religious tolerance.”   One thing that I discovered while blogging Emerald Couture stuff, is that the designer is the owner and designer of Shoed-diction as well!  I discovered and blogged about the features of the Emerald Couture main store back in the Fall, in this post here.

Since the look really didn’t need a bunch of accessories this is all folks!  From the top of my head to my peeping out toes everything can be found at the Free Dove, but the dress will vanish by the start of April, so if it caught your eye, head on down to the Free Dove, turn on that group tag, and hunt up the lollipops scattered around the store!  To snag some shoes, jewelry, and clothes from Loordes of London look for the easter eggs, and some jewelry and accessories from Chop Zuey you can find the white boxes! Remember each store that participates in the mini hunt at The Free Dove also has a few gifts to seek and find at their own main stores, so head on down and scoop em all up!

Free Dove Challenge #7

Snapshot_025.png
Pose by Po^Z  which is a gift at The Free Dove!

It seems unfair of me to call this look a challenge because really it’s just 3 boxes of things, 4 counting my skin. And while at least for this post, there are no March Free Dove Mini Hunt items shown, I am wearing one of the special St. Patrick’s Day items set up on the seasonal platform, which is to the left of the jewelry from the main landing point. I’m mentioning this area because, even I sometimes forget to check that area for each Holiday, and even less when I actually get to blog it on time. However, skin aside, which I always have to remind myself about because it’s always there, everything I am wearing today is NEW to The Free Dove!  And of course, everything at The Free Dove is a group gift , and the group is FREE to join, so this and all my other Free Dove Challenge posts are 100% FREE to anyone, mesh body aside.

It’d only been less than 2 full weeks since I’d been inside The Free Dove when I was starting to seek out the mini-hunt items, but when I was in there last night again to seek out the inspiration for my look, there were just simply loads of new things. I walked out with so many new bags and boxes that I was having a hard time choosing one.  But, I was sitting there in my skybox rental, and for no reason when I changed over the last time from a blank box that I used my photo studio in, I chose the fishing cabin scene. Well, ok, maybe I chose it because He is an outdoorsy sort, and I thought he’d enjoy it.  But sitting there, mentally running over what I’d picked up, my mind settled on this cute little overalls set.  It’s kind of the perfect mesh for me being there in his outdoorsy world, appropriate, but just with that extra flash of style.

So the top, pants, bracelet, and shoes are part of one gift from Composer Girls Fashion.  This is a new to me designer, so I went to nose around the main store to get the scoop to put here on the blog. So here’s what I discovered.  Most items come as complete outfits like this one did, bonus.  There’s one set that you can buy as a mix-n-match, totally LOVE this idea for some reason *innocent look*.  They have a discount store at The Free Dove Plaza, again love. There is a free for anyone outfit available, as well as gifts for the Sexy Fashionable Gorgeous Me, Avantguardista,  and Mesh Avatar Appearance Maniacs groups as well as this and another Free Dove offering.  Also, there is a group gift (pay 1 get 1), and the group is FREE to join! With everything being full outfits this is a ton of generosity!  Pop in and check out this really cute store, you won’t regret it!

Snapshot_038.png

This adorbs very Missy hair; dark, shiny, straight, precision cut, is just one of three new gift hairs from Posh Couture at The Free Dove! The “Kiko Mesh Hair” gift comes with the darks hud. I blogged another gift hair at The Dove from this designer of yesterday, but since that post was gargantuan, I didn’t write up the store, I’m doing that now! I found myself wandering into this huge, bright, modern shop.  There’s everything from head to toe in the shop. With two blogs in a row, I’m definitely one of their new hair fans!  The Posh Couture group is 500L to join, and I didn’t get all the details, but there are at least a monthly group gift and VIP sales for grou members.  The store also participates in my 60 Linden Secret grid wide sale, as well as 70 Linden weekends; today there was one offering for 60 Linden Secret, and 2, a hair and lingerie, for 70 Linden Weekends. They are also participating in the Darkness Inside 2 Hunt.

Snapshot_027.png
Gem Poses “Sunkissed 2”

My hand just wasn’t doing enough to keep the sun out of my eyes, so I popped on this pair of green sunglasses that is out as a seasonal/holiday gift from Prism.  I also find it super fun that there is a top of the head version of these too, you know, how we wear them pushed up when the shade isn’t needed.  It was my also my first visit to Prism, and I found it to be full of classic fashion.  There was a marketplace link next to the desk that led to some dollarbie gifts and promotionally priced items.  They are also, excitingly, and I need to get my butt moving on this hunt, participating in the Steam VIII Hunt.

And that’s it for my 7th Free Dove challenge, as I didn’t put any makeup on over my Avi-Glam Anna skin that I always wear that’s from The Free Dove.  This challenge has 2 brand new designers that have joined the Free Dove team, with brand new gifts if you’ve not been down to the store lately! I’m thinking my next one will feature items from the March Mini-Hunt, so stay tuned, it should be in just a few days, so I can get caught up on my complete look posts!

Free Dove Challenge #6

Snapshot_919.png

I couldn’t resist getting one more Free Dove hunt post out for this short month, so you’d have a chance to get down there and grab it!  This outfit is also chock full of things that make my Second Life stuff giddy; flexi-skirt, artistic details, vibrant color, Spyralle’s fractal textures, Dulce Secret’s makeups, and jewelry from an early favorite of mine, who is regularly featured on my blog, Glint.  Not to slight the other fantastic designers here, I just have somewhat special relationships with the 3 designers above! This look could be roleplay, or it could just be an extra-special boho-inspired look with the vivid colors of both the outfit and the beaded accessories I’ve paired with it.

Furthermore, once again I’ll be offering my personally designed glasses for this look for FREE to anyone who drops me a notecard mentioning The Free Dove and includes their calling card, or sends me an instant message if I’m online! I’ve decided to offer all of my designs that I use with these glasses that match up my custom looks that I blog in all posts on the Marketplace for just a linden.  All of the ones that I use in Free Dove Challenge Posts will be always be FREE by in-game request, as well as offered on my Marketplace page for 1 linden if you prefer that route.

Snapshot_882.png

Things have been busy, and a bit stressful  lately in 1st Life, so if you’ll excuse me, since I’ve already at some point discussed every single designer that I am wearing today on my blog, and everything is at the Dove, I’m just going to breeze through my outfit, by designer, items, and sizes available, if applicable.  There are 3 hunt items in this look, that will be gone by March 1st, so I’ll be sure to note those as well! Going from head to toe!

Hair:  Sentinus Design“Melek Fitted Mesh Hair.”  With a full color-hud, as well as an additional size for larger breasts.

Skin:  Avi-Glam  “AG. Anna Skin (T1, black eyebrows, cleavage.) There are both system skins and omega appliers, for blonde or black eyebrows, with or without cleavage shadowing.

Glasses:  Mesh by -Leo-, design by me.  Available for FREE to anyone who contacts me and requests them.  I’ve also made them available on the marketplace for 1 linden if you’d rather.

All of my makeup and my nail polish is all from one gift.  The Dulce Secrets 2017 Free Dove Collection.

I took off the prim skirt here and wore the applier pants layer as a pair of tight capris so I could show the versatility of the outfit, as well as these adorable perfectly coordinating foot cords from Glint.

Anyway, this whole post serves as an annotated style card this time, so forgive my laziness and I’ll just sign off with my usual photoset.  Hurry down and grab your February hunt prizes, with special thanks to the sponsors this month, Anny’s Fashion, Glint, and Spyralle. Everything in this post not labeled hunt is found at The Free Dove, and the hunt items may be between The Free Dove or in the designer’s main store.  Additional note, Spyralle, which is usually pay-to-join group, is FREE this month in conjunction with this hunt (you’ll need this tag for the 3 Spyralle items that are at the mainstore in this hunt!)  You’ll need to be in The Free Dove group to snag everything here, but the group is, and will always be, FREE to join!

Free Dove Challenge #5

Snapshot_752.png

I have some exciting news in this Free Dove Challenge post!  As you may already be aware, I’m rather attached to my glasses.  I’ve worn them since I was 8 , nearly 34 years now, never got along well with contacts, although I usually buy a box or two every so often for emergency reasons, like lost or broken glasses.  I reached an agreement with Paloma, that I could wear this pair of FULL PERM glasses in my Free Dove Challenge posts if I offered to send a pair to anyone who asks.  I can’t set a box out at the Dove, as I’m not a designer with a store, but I can, and will, send them to anyone who drops me a notecard saying they want them.  Oh, and please drag your calling card to the notecard to make it easier for me to do this.  The sky’s the limit with what you can do with these,  color them, or pick up some textures to apply, I’ve even got a tutorial here on my blog if you’re not sure how to do that. Today I tried to color them to highlight the amazing look on my dress, using an iridescent texture that I uploaded, and then coloring over that, as it was mostly blue, I could use a pink that would match the purples in the outfit, and show pink in the lighter areas.  Now that exciting announcement is over I can present my head to toe look fromThe Free Dove!

Snapshot_784.png

Here’s a fun fact.  The hair I’m wearing today was what I wore for the longest time as my main hair, my first favorite hair. I still do wear it quite a bit despite several folders full of hair now.  My personal favorite is when designers mix mesh hair with flexi-prim hair, as I’ve mentioned before, likely more than a few times.  This hair from Tameless, “Beatrice”, is the start of that love affair.  It comes with a naturals HUD of 30 different shades.  I love to wear this hair when I’m outdoors, it just looks like the wind is blowing through my hair as I move around.

My make up is of course from that huge box of goodies from Dulce Secrets.  Today I’m modeling ::DS:: Rosy Glow Blush, ::DS:: Mystical Abyss Makeup, and ::DS:: Pouty Pink Lips.  I’m still discovering makeup in this box, and I just found and love this lipstick, and the mystical abyss makeup’s eyeshadow is simply perfect for this outfit!  I think I want to find some more of these pouty lips too. I couldn’t be more pleased with how the makeup turned out today.  My skin is my usual AG.Anna from Avi-Glam that is exclusive to The Free Dove!

This necklace is also something I wore very often when I first discovered The Free Dove. EarthStones Lora Necklace – Turquoise Silver also comes with matching earrings which didn’t show through my hair. but they are just as lovely.  Alternatively, there is a Lora set in gold and sunstone which is another favorite of mine as well.

Snapshot_778.png

I’m also super excited that Spyralle is in this month’s Mini hunt!  More Kerryth love from me, she deserves and I wish I could do more!  I simply love her fractal designs, I’m also really into lavenders and blues lately, so I was super happy to unbox this set.  The “Spyralle Florette Minidress Periwinkle” also comes with an omega applier for the knee-length capris.  There are several sizes in the box, standard sizes xs-L, Maitreya, both Slinks, all 3 Bellezas, as well as TMP.  This beauty will only be at The Dove until the end of the month, so head down and hunt it up!  There are 5 hunt prizes to be found at the Dove, and 3 at Spyralle’s new main store.  You’ll need to be a member of The Free Dove to snag those there, and excitingly Spyralle’s group is FREE to join until March 1st, so you can join that wonderful group in order to hunt down the 3 prizes there.

Snapshot_773.png
Only in 2L could I do a backbend in high heels on a tree branch!  Pose by HelaMiyo!

How daring was I to scale this tree in strappy high heels!  These well-coordinated kicks are a gift from Shoe-ddiction, whom I featured a couple of times in January as they did the mini-hunt that month.  But these “Denim Love Blackberry” aren’t a hunt item, they are right there in the shoe section to be snagged!  There are a Slink high version and an unrigged version in the box.

Snapshot_787.png

The Tree

Now, everything on my body is from The Free Dove, which is my challenge rules!  However, I have to give designer credit for this tree that I fell in absolute love with. It inspires my creativity, and I plan on using often for photography.  I won’t forget to get in a few cuddles with my sweetie either.  However, the really good nis thatthat this designer is a Free Dove supporter with gifts in the store, and also a participant in this month’s Dazzle.  He’s also a new favorite of mine, whom I’ve blogged 3 times already this month!  If you haven’t’ already guessed by those hints, I’ll tell you that it’s from Stone’s Works. It also breaks my self-imposed blog guidelines of 100L or less, but I don’t care!  I love it!

The “Sittin Tree v 3 2015” has 12 PG couple’s poses, but a few can be used for single shots, and I did, the first pic on the blog is the first pose in the menu. I also lined up some poses with my pose stand for some silly and fun action shots.  I plan to use it for holding up some swings and hanging chairs that I have acquired. All in all, I imagine hours of fun and great pics in the future with this lovely tree.  It has 6 land impact, which is ok considering it’s huge, as you can see. It costs 425 lindens, but thanks to the now past Valentine’s Hunt where I found a 200 linden gift card, I Missy Mathed it down to 225 lindens.  If you want to purchase this it’s out in the yard of the store, to your right when you teleport in.

The flowers underneath are not included, but they are FREE!  Lunaria has several beautiful ground covers as gifts for the FREE to join group. I scattered several of them around to look like a field of flowers, overlapping at times.  Lunaria is a store to be seen if you like elegant, feminine designs with a touch of fantasy. There’s also several lucky letters and a midnight madness board, and a couple of boxes of old gifts, along with several landscaping and clothing gifts available.

Snapshot_769.png

Ok, I’ve gone a little overboard on my furnishing credits in this Free Dove Challenge Post, but credit where credit is due, I like to give all the info on the designers I include, as is more than fair, as furnishings help show off my clothing in a way that, to me, brings the designs to life. However, the focus here is on the clothes, as it is a fashion blog overall, and of course the wonderful Free Dove.  Everything on my body can be found at The Free Dove.  You’ll need to be Blessed by a Dove to pick up these items, but the group is, and will always be to join!

Free Dove Challenge #4

Snapshot_210.png

Wow, Free Dove Challenge #4 already, it hardly seems a month since I started blogging for The Free Dove, but I guess this is proof of it!  I’ve got another head to toe look made entirely of items found at The Free Dove, mesh body excluded of course.  Don’t put off heading down there for this look, as parts of it are only available through the 31st. Even though I literally have everything from The Free Dove in my inventory, I still go down to the store and wander around to see what calls to me for my weekly challenge post.  This berry blue dress caught my eye and I decided to see what I had from The Free Dove to complete the look.  Remeber, everything found at The Free Dove is FREE!

Gidget’s Style has generously set this “Shelby Dress” out at the Dove, just this December, so if you’ve not been in a few months, you should go down and not only snag this if you like it but check also for some other new gifts, such as the ones I’ve already blogged from Poeme.  The Shelby Dress comes in 5 standard sizes, with an alpha layer if needed.  I’m actually wearing the large size, which amazingly fit over my Hourglass body when I reduced my breasts to standard size ones, no alpha hud needed!

Snapshot_216.png

You’ll have to go today or tomorrow to snag these shoes which are a perfect match.  Shoe-ddiction is a designer for the Dove’s January mini-hunt, with some super lovely shoes to find.  Look for the white shoe hunt objects scattered around The Free Dove, as well as at Shoe-ddicton’s main store. The “{SA} Summer Bloom Blue” come sized for Slink, Maitreya, Belleza, and TMP high feet. I also blogged a pair of ankle boots from this same hunt that I LOVE, here.

My hair is yet another gift that Firelight has up at the Dove.  The “Axisia” hair comes in rigged, unrigged, and busty versions, with a mini-essentials hud of  8 colors, as well as a tinting wheel to customize any shade that you like.  Firelight also has a discount store in the Plaza outside next to The Free Dove where they have single color sets for as low as 39L. There are also 2 lucky letter chairs at this location, you’ll need the Firelight group to play, but the group is FREE!

My glasses are from one of the huge boxes from Ydea, there are 2 set out at the Dove.  In my Free Dove Challenge #2 post, I provided a tutorial on how to modify.  I did modify this pair as well.  The good news is that this pair is copy, so you’ll want to do that first when and if you modify them.  They come as a gold pair of sunglasses, and I made the lenses clear and colored the frames this deep shade of violet to coordinate with the blues and purples of the dress.

Snapshot_208.png

I’m not wearing my usual skin, rather one from Alaskametro<3 .  I really like how clean the “alaskametro<3 “Serenity” skin” is. It also comes with an optional eyebrow shaper, lipstick, and eyeshadow.  This is super nice for those of us who love to play with makeup, as I do.  I find most skins come with makeup already applied and so if you wish to change it up with makeup you have to find some covers the makeup on the skin well.  In this case, I added makeup to coordinate with the dress with makeup found in that is found in the gift of all gifts that is the “Dulce Secrets 2017 Free Dove Collection”  I really loved this eyeshadow with it’s shades of blues and purples, it’s the “::DS:: On the Horizon Eyeshadow 8″, and I rounded off my makeup with ” ::DS:: Rosy Glow Blush”, and “::DS:: On The Horizon Lipstick 2.”  My little eyes aren’t the best to show off eyeshadow sometimes, and there’s a vendor ad in the box which will allow you to preview this entire set of 8 shadows, so I’ll include that pic, keep in mind I opted not wear the included pearls.

On The Horizon Vendor Display Ad.png

Drawing from the light blue highlights at the inner corner of the eyeshadow I chose the darkest of the light blues in Dulce Secrets‘ “Blue Bubbly” nail palette.  This is also found in the “Dulce Secrets 2017 Free Dove Collection” and is for Slink nails only. The final detail is a pair of earrings that I wear often, as well as worn often on this blog.  Found in the jewelry section is this gorgeous pair of gold and mother-of-pearl hoops.  Earthstones is the designer of the “EarthStones Twisted Hoop Earrings.”  Here’s a Missy Pro-tip about these earrings, if you like them as much as I do, you can snag a silver pair, as well as several other gifts, many of which I have blogged (link to a search of Earthstones on this blog), the Earthstones group is 250L to join.

I’ve talked to many people since I’ve started blogging for The Free Dove who are older members of Second Life.  They’ve been surprised at the quality of the gifts offered.  Paloma, the owner of the Free Dove, has worked very hard to get some quality gifts in the store, and it has paid off for everyone.  You’ll need to join The Free Dove group in order to snag everything in this post, but The Free Dove is and always will be FREE to join. As a member, you’ll receive notices from The Designers who participate, as well as when myself, and all the other Free Dove bloggers blog something from the store.  Hop down there and take a pic of your favorite find, and post it here or on my facebook page to win a gift bundle of up to $500 lindens in value.

Free Dove Challenge #3

Snapshot_017.png

Back again for another head to toe look all found at The Free Dove, which means that this entire look is FREE!  There’s a brand new designer, with a brand new set of jewelry available at The Free Dove.  However, to readers of this blog, she is a regularly featured designer, I know her as Kimbra, owner, and designer of Beloved Jewelry.  As she is both an absolutely fantastic person, awesome at customer service, creative, and affordable, she’s a natural fit for both my blog and The Free Dove!  I couldn’t be happier that this will be a great way for more people to discover this gem, oh and her store too.

Snapshot_001.png

So naturally, this being both a brand-spankin’ new item to The Free Dove, and from Beloved Jewelry, I used her “Rows of Garnet Set” as the inspiration for the rest of the look.  Which wasn’t a hardship for me as I simply adore garnets. Both the earrings and the necklace, including a resizable version are included in the box.  If you’ve not yet tried to follow my modify instructions in my last Free Dove Challenge post, there’s also a pose stand in here to help you adjust this jewelry, and whatever else you may need!  The word Garnet actually comes from the Latin word “Garanatus,” meaning “seedlike,” in reference to a pomegranate.  Can’t you just imagine these stones as beautiful, and less sticky, deep red seeds of the fruit?  Therefore, they are often cut round just like this set.  Garnet is also January’s birthstone, so an excellent time to head down and snag this!

Snapshot_013.png

Garnets, to me, are one of the more versatile gems, they can be dressed up or dressed down to be either formal or casual, considering the design, I wanted to pair it with a simple, dressy, but not formal dress, and my eye eventually settled on this dress in this rich chocolate brown shade.  The “DE.Boutique AW16 Soraia Dress Colors” actually comes with a color HUD with 8 choices, so if you like my look, but not this color, you can choose another!  I’m a total sucker for a classic wrap dress, and the heat this high slit adds might just make it perfect for Valentine’s Day if you choose the red.  Having each tie slowly undone….*fans self and gets back on topic*.  The Soraia Dress comes sized for Maitreya, and all Slink and Belleza sizes.

Snapshot_011.png

I also felt this shaggy, tousled, short do was a perfect sexy addition to the look.  Good news for the men, who *snort* obviously read this female fashion blog in droves, it’s a unisex style.  Ok, ladies, maybe tell your male friends about it.  The Firelight Unisex Mitchel Hair actually comes as a light red out of the box, but Firelight has generously included a color tinter wheel in the package. Slide the sliders, or use your mouse to locate the perfect color and shade of your choice, then click on the rectangle box above the wheel that displays the color to apply it to the hair.  I think you lose a bit of the highlights from the original when you choose this option, so if you’d love a sizzling short ginger look, I’d leave it as is!

Since so very much skin is showing, I thought a bracelet to break things up a bit would be nice.  Secrets have a set of bracelets out called the Anais Bracelets.  There are several options in the box, in both silver and gold, and are resizable.  You can wear the full set, or choose to wear one or the other bracelets solo.  I’m including the vendor Ad so you can see more detail of this lovely set.  I’m wearing the full set in silver.

-SECRETS- Anais Bracelet Set AD.png

The rest of the details are rather straightforward, my ever used “Anna Skin” from Avi-glam, the classic round toe pumps with HUD from Baby Monkey, as well as makeup from my favorite huge box of goodies from Dulce Secrets.  In this case, I used “::DS:: Opulence Makeup 2”  which is a full face makeup tattoo that I find cleanly beautiful.  Additionally, I painted my nails with a polish from that gift, the “All That Glitters Solid Slink Nail Hud” choosing the Bronze option from the palette.  Of course, all of these, plus every other thing in this entire post today is FREE and located at The Free Dove.  You’ll need to join The Free Dove group, but it is, as always, FREE to join!

Free Dove Challenge #2

Snapshot_455.png

I’ve decided to do a little something different than usual in this post.  Since it’s a Free Dove challenge post, everything, of course, is available at the Free Dove.  My outfit, however, is limited time, as it’s a January hunt gift. I’ll still discuss the outfit, and add in my usual discussion, but here’s the twist.  I’m going to be pointing out three special items in this outfit that have the ability to be modified.  I’m hopefully going to lead the readers step by step through the directions on how to make these pieces match this outfit, as well as teach the steps to apply it to all outfits.  I’m going to try to keep my language simple, clear, and not rely on too much Second Life lingo as I remember feeling clueless when people and even guides blasted through the information without explaining these words.  I’m going to save that for last, however, and get into the discussion of the outfit!

Snapshot_447.png

The Clothes

Marquess is one of the designers for the Free Dove Mini Hunt this month. If you search around the store for a little gold star you can find several in The Free Dove store and a few more at Marquess’s main store. You’ll need to wear your Free Dove group tag to snag these gifts, but The Free Dove group is FREE to join. Notice how these 3/4 lenght Harem pants are just barely sheer so that when I had a little firelight near one could see a sexy outline of my legs.  The matching wrap top is also in the box!  The “Malma Outfit Red” comes in several sizes:

  • Fitmesh – XS-L
  • Belleza – Freya, Isis, and Venus (plus shoes!)
  • Ebody
  • Maitreya (plus shoes!)
  • Ocasin
  • Slink -Physique and Hourglass (plus shoes!)
  • Tonic – Fine and Curvy
  • TM

The Shoes

Just in case anyone couldn’t fit into the shoes included in the Malma Outfit, I’ve worn another pair that can be found in the shoe section of the store.  There are actually 3 pairs in the box of “!MiH Shoes For the Free Dove” by Mutiny in Heaven, this red pair, a black, and a green.  These include a pair for TMP (which Marquesse doesn’t have, but there is a TMP outfit in the outfit hunt prize), as well as Slink, and Maitreya.  If you turn around from the shoe department and look through the casual dresses, you’ll find a set of dresses that are designed to match up with these shoes!  However, since you can see these !MiH shoes in all of my other pictures, I’ve gone ahead and snapped on the shoes that Maquesse has paired with theMalma Outfit.

Snapshot_475.png

The Hair

My hair is from Rezology.  The “Boon” hairstyle is a full and thick French braid ending in a bun.  This hair comes with a color HUD so that you can customize your preferred color.  If you’re not familiar with using a HUD it’s really simple, just add it, instead of wear, and when it loads on your screen simply click for color choice.

Snapshot_452.png

The Makeup

There is one thing I love about having a Standard/Classic Second Life head. Unlike applier makeup, where there can only be one choice, with a classic head, you can use up to 5 different makeup tattoo layers to customize your look.  Some really old viewers may not have the feature enabled, but it’s been years since it has been available, so if you’re not seeing it, make sure you’re running an up to date version.  To stack tattoo layers, from your inventory right click them and choose to add because if you choose to wear you will replace what’s there with a new one instead of layering. This little lesson aside, I’m using the following makeup from the “Dulce Secrets 2017 Free Dove Collection”; “::DS:: Cherry Cute Blush”, “::DS:: Noble Hyssop Eyeshadow”, and “::DS:: Brass Kissable Lips Tattoo”, as well as the mesh pair of eyelashes and used the included black HUD for the lashes.  All of this makeup is layered on top of my skin, which is “AG. Anna Skin – T1 – Black Eyebrows – Cleavage.”  Since I have a mesh body and a standard head, I need to use both the system skin, that looks like a little man doing jumping jacks in the inventory and the omega applier version that comes in a HUD.

I also used a nail polish found the Dulce Secrets box.  The nail polishes offered in this gift are only for Slink hands, so if you have standard or another mesh maker they won’t work for you. I opted for the ‘::DS:: All That Glitters Gold Tip Slink Nail HUD” and chose the cranberry color.

Snapshot_453

The Glasses

I always feel naked, even in Second Life without my eyeglasses.  I’ve worn them since I was 8 years old, and being in my 40s, they are just a part of my face now. That said, I’m fairly sure I’ve checked inside all of the female gifts at The Free Dove, and have not found a pair of plain glasses in any.  I did discover a way that I can modify several pairs of sunglasses of different frame types that are included in a special box of several outfits to create some. There is a gift in Casual Section of the store in a box named “Ydea All Gifts” that has over 30 mostly completely styled outfits, including accessories and shoes for many, even a couple of hairs. Several outfits are for system layers, so this is a nice box to pick up if you don’t yet have a mesh body, and also rather nice if you do, because of the mesh shoes and accessories, as well as a few mesh outfits. Now, inside one of the outfits; and in this case, I’m not sure which one it was, because of months ago, before I thought about blogging, much less being one for the Free Dove, I moved them to another folder so they’d be quick to find and named that folder glasses.  Anyway, once you open the outfits, you’ll see that one outfit has some sunglasses simply named “White Sunglasses”, these are the ones I used.  The following instructions will teach you how to customize different areas of an object, make areas transparent, and recolor them.

  • These particular glasses are no copy, normally the first step in any modifying process is to make a copy of the item you are going to change and keep that in case of error.  So in this case only proceed if you are sure you don’t want them as is.
  • The second always-do step is to get onto a pose stand.  If you don’t have one already, I know for certain that the jewelry set out by Glint has them.
  1. To modify these, I think the best option is to wear them, so click on them inside your inventory, right-click and choose “add”, just in case you have something else worn at the same attachment point. A quick way to find them is to use the search feature and put in White Sunglasses.  Don’t close your inventory yet after adding them. This step should look like the picture below. They should now be on your face and bold within your inventory folder.  Screenshot_9
  2. Secondly, once they are on your face, and now bolded in your inventory, right-click them again and choose to Edit.  This will pull up another window.  On your face, they will now be highlighted yellow, and you’ll look like you have arrows coming out of your head in every direction.
  3. Now that you’re in the edit window, chose the tab that says texture in the middle area of the window, select the radio button for Select Face, and I find it easier to uncheck the box for Highlight so I can see clearly how my changes impact the object. The picture below shows all that I’ve chosen. At this point, if you’d like to keep them as sunglasses and not clear the lenses, skip ahead to step 7.Screenshot_10.png
  4. Here’s where it starts to get a touch tricker.  Zoom in on your face with the camera and click the area of the glasses that are the lenses, they will now be somehow marked, usually a  circle on the face of the lenses, or a highlight along the edges if there’s not a large flat face. The highlight on mine is easy to see because they are already clear, but it’s not as clear when they are still shaded. However, the easiest way to tell you are in the right place, in this instance, is that the Texture box will no longer say “multiple textures,” and you’ll see a blue and white checked image with a couple of small white areas in the Texture box.  I no longer have that texture, so I sadly can’t show you.   Please note that going back to sunglasses at this point is not impossible, but it won’t have the reflective appearance as the original does, and is a bit trickier to pull off well.
  5. Next, click on the picture of the texture.  It will load another window with options.  Make double sure that it doesn’t say Multiple Textures in the window before you do anything, and if it does try again to select just the lenses, otherwise you’re about to make the whole thing invisible and it will be frustrating to fix.  I know because I’ve done it!  I am stubborn and self-taught, so I learned through my many errors!
  6. In the new window, you will see some buttons on the bottom middle-left, choose Transparent, this is available to everyone as a texture already in your inventory library. I’m showing a picture of what it should look like, and included my face so that you may see what the highlight looks like when I’ve selected the right area with Select Face on my already clear lenses.  Repeat this step with the left lens as well. (oh and you don’t have to set the Transparenc % to 12, I think I did that accidentally, just ignore that option and all the others I’ve not mentioned.)Screenshot_13
  7. Now you should have clear lenses.  It’s time to move onto the frame of the glasses. Since the lenses are transparent, you can just select the radio button on the right side to Move so that it selects the entire object.  *Side note, if you want to make the frame different colors, there are 5 areas you can individually select just as we did for the lenses, but leaving the texture in the “blank” option.  You can experiment with the various system textures as well, as long as you’re using select face, so you don’t accidentally apply it over the lenses, as this will make them solid.  But if you do make them solid, don’t fret and just repeat the previous steps. Playing around is fun, you can make custom looks, and it’s easy to always go back to blank if you don’t like a particular texture.
  8. Once you have the entire object selected, notice in the edit menu above the texture there is a white rectangle that says “Color” below it, this will load the Color Picker menu. I made an easy choice and it matched pretty well, I just chose the dark red from the boxes of common colors beneath the RGB window.

    Screenshot_12.png
In this step, ignore the fact that I have select face checked, it should be something else.

The Earrings

Once again in the Ydena All Gifts box, there is a folder named “Leonora Outfit,” and I added both of the earrings inside.  I then customized them into the shiny gold that is visible in my pictures using the following steps:

  1. This time you can ignore the texture and leave it as is.  I customized a color that was a fairly close match to my necklace and bracelet, using the RGB window.  Consult the picture for the numbers I used and just input that into the appropriate spaces.Screenshot_14.png
  2. Once you’ve done this, you can drag the main color square, which says ^Current Color^ underneath it, down over the bottom rows of quick colors and put it into one of the extra white boxes.
  3. Next, back in the main edit window, you’ll see 3 radio buttons next to the texture box.  Ignore the first 2, and click the 3rd that says Shininess.  This is the specular menu. Click the drop box that appears and choose Medium.Screenshot_15.png
  4. When you edit the second earring you’ll just click to open the color menu, and choose the color you saved in the rows on the RGB window. Then repeat step 3 on to increase the shine.

The Necklace and Bracelet

I’m wearing a set I found in the Jewelry Section,  the “[[ Masoom ]] Alia Necklace Unrigged GOLD.”  The basic thing that you need to know about unrigged items, is that you can resize them and change where they are positioned on your body. If it fits well right out of the box you don’t need to do anything.  I needed to do both, so I’ll give a quick rundown of this process.  There are two methods to resize this set, the first is that you may “touch” this item, and because it has a resize script, a menu will appear for you. You can increase or decrease the size in percentages until you get it right.  I, however, prefer to use the “Stretch” option via the edit menu and using the white boxes that appear around the object, resize it manually. The “Stretch” option is located in the radio button section on the top left side of the menu. If you do this make sure that the “Stretch Both Sides” option is checked on the left side of the menu, as well as you being on a pose stand.  Unchecking the “Show Highlight” box will make this easier to see just exactly how it’s fitting you. While not in this particular object, but if you have stretch boxes that are red, blue, or green, they can make an item thicker or thinner in any direction depending on which arrow you chose.  Just something to note for later, or if you’re trying this process with a different item.

Screenshot_16

You also may have to move the necklace to a better fitting area of your neck or wrist for your bracelet.  To move the object, you simply check the “Move” radio button, and use your mouse to drag the arrows, selecting either the head or the tail of it, in the direction you want it to move, a different color for each direction, red for the X-axis, green for the Y, and blue for the Z-axis.  You may have to go back and forth between stretching and moving an unrigged item to get a perfect fit.

That’s it, that’s my outfit for my second Free Dove Challenge. I hope I have taught you that even though The Free Dove is just chock full of wonderful gifts, there are some special things that you can do to always have a perfect match, or inspire your creativity to make your own design by adding texture and/or color. You’ll need to be a member of The Free Dove group to snag these gifts, but The Free Dove group is free to join! As is my usual habit, I’ll end with 3 more pictures of me doing various things in the outfit, so that it can ‘come to life’ so to speak, and show you different angles and posing.

The Free Dove Challenge #1

Snapshot_549.png

So, here it is, my first official post as an official blogger for The Free Dove! I’m pretty excited about it!  It makes me want to tell my first Free Dove story.  So, if any of you actually read my introductory blog post (which I don’t think anyone did).  My Second Life Story started over 3 years ago.  Well, I didn’t know anyone, and I couldn’t figure a thing out, and where I landed not another person was helpful, so I quit. I came back last summer to join a friend, who promised to tutor me.  He was, unfortunately male, and one of those males who has a couple of shirts, a pair of jeans, and a swimsuit. Not really help in the fashion department, bless his heart, but accepting of whatever I chose, basically.  The first random person who saw me struggling with how I looked, directed me to the Freebie Galaxy.  Which, I’m not knocking it, it was a great way to explore and get introduced into various things like rezzing, and understanding where system layers go.

Fast forward a month or so, and I bought my first mesh body.  Now I have zero clothes again.  Auntie Google finally introduced me to this special store, The Free Dove, where everything is FREE!  I was in H-E-A-V-E-N.  I literally grabbed everything, because I can’t ever do anything the easy way and have bought a mainstream body, and the Violet Studios suggestion was just to try on everything and see what works!  I went back to my friend’s linden house and happily spent days playing paper dolls with my new clothes, hair, makeup, and skins.   Things have sort of snowballed from there in terms of my paper dolls obsessions, prompting me to channel it productively and start this blog.  But, this is where it began, this is the reason I am fashion obsessed in Second Life, and obsessed with outfitting myself for FREE as much as I can.  And at The Free Dove, I can do that.

If you’ve been a reader, you will have noticed that I naturally have included The Free Dove in many posts, but if you check the tag you will find that ALL of my posts include The Free Dove, because that is where my favorite skin is from. I’m sorry and not sorry for this, sorry because there’s no easy way for a reader to check what outfits and accessories that I have already covered, and not sorry, because as my favorite skin is from The Free Dove, both the store, and the designer who created it, Avi-Glam, are highlighted in each post I make, as is deserved and fitting.

All this backstory brings us to The Free Dove Challenge, where I will post a head to toe look entirely put together at The Free Dove, and start a new tag “Free Dove Challenge” so that those posts can be tracked.   The hard part for me was deciding where to start for my first one!  I narrowed it down this way.  I haven’t blogged a long dress in a while, I haven’t blogged anything but cold weather fashion lately and there is half the world that doesn’t have cold weather right now, and I’ve really really been wanting to blog Spyralle again, and my plans for blogging her Regency Bonnets for Jane Austen’s Birthday went right out the window. I’ll refresh memories, I totally fell in love with the hunt offering from Spyralle back in October at the Rock Your Rack 2017 Event, and wore it here and here.  But, even more than just liking her designs, which are very unique, I like Kerryth as a person, my interactions with her were very uplifting as a new blogger, and she made a lasting impression on me as someone who I wanted to support in Second Life.  I want my blog to be a positive place for those who deserve it, and in my own pitiful way, offer my blog as thanks for their contributions, and a way to bring their creations to life.  I can certainly say that I’ve found a very supportive group of friends, and while I don’t interact with Kerryth as much as I do some other designers, she was among the first.

So, what you really want to know about is the CLOTHES! From the top of my head to the tip of my toes, every single thing can be found at The Free Dove!  (minus my mesh body).

Snapshot_542.png

What seems to be a simple slip dress is elevated to a beautiful work of art in the hands of Kerryth of Spyralle.  The pattern of swirls in lights and shadows, that mimics the natural design elements of sea-shells, wings, leaves, flower petals, and even the wind, gives this dress an ethereal quality that makes it seem to glow in places, even though it’s not.  The National Tropical Botanical Garden is in Koloa Hawaii, and I get the same feeling of peace and beauty with this design as I did years ago gazing upon the truly amazing trees there.  Check it out if you don’t believe me on the website for the Allerton Garden!  Ok, now that my fangirl gushing is done, I should tell you that the “Koloa” slip dress comes in 5 standard sizes! I’m also adding in a shot of the back of this beauty.  All casual clothing, such as this dress, is located in the center of the store. With this particular dress being in the aisle that faces the makeup and skins section.

Snapshot_546.png

This back shot also gives you a nice view of how the hair from Mutiny in Heaven that I am modeling tumbles gracefully down my back. The “!MiH Phyde hair for The Free Dove” comes in this rich brown or a honey blonde, with options for larger or standard breasts in each shade. You can locate this and all of the FREE hairs available along the back wall of the store, near the dressing areas.

The dress is long and flowing, so you really can’t see my shoes, although I’m wearing them, just in case anyone peeks at my tootsies while I walk. Baby Monkey has a fantastic gift out in the shoes section with classic round toe pumps with a HUD of 10 basic colors.  The “Leana Pumps Basics” come sized for Slink, Maitreya, Belleza, and classic avatar MID feet.   You can locate the shoes section in the front center area of the store, between casual clothing and lingerie and in front of makeup and skins.

I’m including the vendor ad for the shoes so you can see exactly what’s included.  I happen to be wearing them in this nice, neutral nude which is shown.

Screenshot_7.png

Snapshot_543.png

Speaking of skins and makeup, it’s no secret to readers of this blog that I always wear a skin from The Free Dove.  Avi-Glam is the generous designer who has offered up the AG. Anna Skin for members of The Free Dove.  I am a pale person, and when looking for free skins when I started, I had a heck of a time finding one that wasn’t essentially “tanned.”  This skin is not!  It comes in tiers 0 and 1, and has options for blond or black eyebrows.  There is the skin for classic avatar, as well as Slink and Omega appliers in the box, with and without the option to apply a cleavage shadow.  I like when both classic and applier skins are in the same box, as I use a mesh body, and a standard/classic head.  So I utilize both the system skin and the applier version.

Over my skin I’ve added a few simple and fresh makeup options from that HUGE box of cosmetics that I often mention, and use, that Dulce Secrets has out.  From that huge box makeup, (thank goodness there are previews in the textures), I’ve plucked out and applied the “::DS:: Fresh Love Lips”, “::DS:: Rosy Glow Blush”, and the “::DS:: Fresh Smoke Eyeshadow”.  I’m also wearing a pair of mesh eyelashes found in the box, for that extra bump of eye drama. The gift in the makeup section is named “Dulce Secrets 2017 Free Dove Collection.”  It’s early yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a 2018 collection was coming shortly, so be sure to hurry down and grab this totally amazing gift. But there’s not only makeup in the box, there’s clothing, skins, eyes, non-bento shapes, and slink nail appliers as well.  It’s 100% a few different complete avatars in a box.  Both classic and mesh avatars as well, as appliers are included.

One last detail in my jewelry, I’ve actually blogged the earrings from this set before, it’s a lovely matched set that is versatile to use with many outfits.  In the Jewelry section, straight in from the entrance at the landing point, you’ll find this offering from Tempestuous named “Your Majesty”.  A simple gold chain with a teardrop pearl and diamond solitaire along with matched drop earrings.

I hope you enjoyed my Free Dove Challenge, I’ll be doing them a few times a month!  Best thing is that head to toe, completely and totally, with the exception of my mesh body, everything shown is completely FREE to members of The Free Dove Group, which is also FREE to join!
