I have to start out this post with a disclaimer and a little personal bit of trivia about myself. I love language, I love how it evolves, and I especially love slang. I mean, I actually sat down and a read a dictionary of 19th Century British and Cockney slang from front to back, ya I’m that nerdy. I had debated just diving in with some 20’s lingo, but I figured you all might think I’ve lost my mind, and those who know me better know I don’t have much to lose. Keep your eye out though, I definitely will be spattering some lingo throughout this post, see if you can pick em up from the context clues. However, many have remained in use through present times, or at least long enough that this old lady knows them, not so sure about the rest of you birds.
Part of my accepted duties as a blogger for The Free Dove includes covering the Dazzle Event that is hosted by the wonderful owner of The Free Dove and features many of the great designers who contribute to keeping The Free Dove free for all of us. This post will, therefore, not be like my usual in that the two event items and the dress I chose to match will not fall below 100L, but I honestly am excited to be featuring them, and I hope my dear fellow deal-finders will share in the spirit of generosity and spend some simoleans and support these wonderful designers. Even beyond generosity, however, is the fact that what I’m featuring today from Stone’s Works, is truly wearable art.
If you noticed the event poster I embedded above, the theme of February’s Event is Dark Vintage Romance and Passion. What better to encompass all of these components than to get dolled-up, grab my fella, and head down to the juice joint to Get Hot! I did leave off my cheaters (I feel naked!) so I could better show off this fascinating fascinator. A fascinator is a lightweight ornamental headpiece which fastens to the hair with either a comb or headband. The designer was even thoughtful enough to link us a bit of a fast fashion history lesson. (Had enough fas- yet?) To be honest, despite being a self-dubbed fashionista I was a bit unsure what a fascinator was prior to reading that article, but oh so excited when I popped it on my head and saw what it was all about. Isn’t this gorgeous? The detail work is stunning, not to mention that this is the easiest to fit hair accessory that I’ve ever had. I also couldn’t resist being a tad sillier than usual and showing off doing this cheesily animated Charleston via gif so you can see how the fascinator responds to movement, despite my usual fastidiousness to historical detail.
I’m pretty keen on this necklace as well, which is also an exclusive item of Stone’s Works. Prior to getting into the necklace, I do want to give you the goods on this unique shop. It’s a new to me store, and I was really excited to be blogging about it once I ankled in and had a good look around. The first floor is chock full of unique jewelry, hats, and other various accessories. Yet it was upstairs that truly made my jaw drop. They have several art pieces up there known as water art. They are beautifully animated to resemble water flowing over the face of the art. There is a clock version to view and purchase at Dazzle as well. The necklace that I am wearing is inspired by one of these. The “Enclose Me” necklace in silver is exclusive to this event, but there’s also a gold version available if you prefer, or want one of each to go with all outfits!
The Dazzle Event runs from today until the 25th of February. I walked through and previewed all of what was available, and there are certainly many lovely items and exclusives fitting all the elements of the theme. You can pick up the “Royal Blue Fascinator” and the “Enclose Me Necklace” in silver from Stone’s Works only at this current round of Dazzle. I’m on the level, these aren’t orchids, despite how swell they are. At 199 lindens that’s not heavy sugar. Now, not to be a kill-joy, but I’ve got to go see a man about a dog. Check the style card for the rest of the look!
